How we write and update our guides
Who writes PrintOnNow, where the facts come from, how pages are kept current and how to tell us when something is wrong.
Who writes PrintOnNow
Guides, ideas and picks are written by PrintOnNow Editors, the small team behind the site. We work on print every day: business cards, labels, invitations and wedding stationery, from the first sketch to the file a printer accepts.
We sign pages as a team rather than as one person because most pages are made by several of us: one researches, one writes, one checks the sizes and links.
Where the facts come from
- Print specs (sizes, bleed, safe zone, resolution) come from printers' published file requirements and from files we have sent to print ourselves.
- Wording and etiquette follow long-standing conventions for invitations and stationery; where customs differ by country we say so.
- Prices and rates in calculators are typical ranges from published price guides and are always editable, because local prices vary.
- Free tools are built and tested by us and run in your browser; we do not upload your files.
How a page is made
- We start from what people actually search for and ask (Search Console data and reader questions).
- An editor drafts the page. We use software, including AI writing assistants, to draft, summarise and check; a person reviews every page, its facts and its links before it is published.
- Every design shown is chosen by an editor using the criteria on How we pick designs.
- Before publishing, an automated check confirms every link works, every image has a description and the page loads fast on a phone.
Keeping pages current
Each page shows when it was published or last updated. The "Updated" date changes only when the content changes (a new section, a corrected size, new picks), never because the site's design changed.
We revisit guides when a standard changes, when a design we picked is no longer available, and when readers point out something we missed.
Corrections
If you spot a mistake, email [email protected] with the page address. We fix factual errors quickly and note significant corrections on the page.
How the site is funded
PrintOnNow is free to read and its tools are free to use. Designs open in our partner print shop's editor; when you order through our links we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. That commission never decides what we write or pick. Details: affiliate disclosure.
