How we pick the designs we show

What an editor's pick is, the five things we look for, what each badge means and what we never do.

What a pick is

Inside our guides you will find boxes marked with a badge such as Editor's Pick or Best for Bakeries. Each one is a ready-made design from our partner print shop that an editor chose for that page, with the reasons it was chosen and who it suits.

Picks are about the design: layout, type, colour and how easy it is to personalize. We do not test physical products, so we never show star ratings or scores.

What we look for

  1. Readable where it is used. A business card's name and number must read at arm's length; an invitation's date and place at a glance.
  2. Print-ready. Backgrounds run into the bleed, text stays inside the safe zone, and small text is large enough to print sharp.
  3. Easy to make your own. The text fields, photo slots and colours that matter can be changed without design software.
  4. Fits the job. The style suits the trade or the occasion, and the layout leaves room for what people really need to write.
  5. Part of a set. We prefer designs with matching pieces (RSVP cards, labels, flyers), so everything you print looks like one brand.

What the badges mean

  • Editor's Pick: our first choice on that page.
  • Best for (a trade or occasion): the strongest fit for that use, such as Best for Bakeries.
  • Best Minimal, Best Classic, Best Modern, Best Floral, Best Photo Design: the best example of that style on the page.
  • Most Versatile: works across many businesses or events with small changes.
  • Best Budget-Friendly Look: a design that looks premium on standard paper and a single side.

What we never do

  • Accept payment to include a design or to give it a badge.
  • Show ratings, scores or reviews we did not earn by testing.
  • Hide that a link goes to a shop: every shop link is marked and opens the partner's editor.

How we are paid

When you order a design through our links we may earn a commission from the partner shop, at no extra cost to you. Prices are set by the shop and shown there. Read the full affiliate disclosure and our editorial process.
